Please don’t despair, as I’ve just browsed through their spring/summer collection and it’s fantastic. As we come to expect, there are some great easy-to-wear, minimalist pieces in classic muted colours. These are perfect for bridging the gap from day to night, and work wear to out-of-hours. My personal favourites are the black high-waisted trousers (above), and long-sleeved v-neck dress (below). I can’t wait until pay day to start shopping!

Interview with make-up artist and hair stylist Zoe Walters
Hello, I’m Zoe Walters from Cambridgeshire, and I'm a make-up artist and hair stylist.
How did you get into make-up artistry and hair styling?
There are quite a few hairdressers in my family, including my mum, so my love affair with hair started as far back as I can remember. However, I didn’t realise that hair should have been my career path from the start. It certainly wasn’t the obvious choice!
Instead I carved a corporate career for myself at a young age but I never felt truly inspired. I knew I had to do something which allowed me to express my artistic side; and that’s when it happened. I met celebrity make-up artist Lou Page quite randomly, without knowing exactly who she was, and I jumped at the chance when she gave me an opportunity to go on set and see how it all works. I was hooked and got professionally trained right away!
Who are your clients?
My clients can range from fashion designers and photographers, to producers in music, fashion, and TV.
What are you must-have items in your make-up bag?
Laura Mercier illuminating tinted moisturiser, Bare Escentuals mineral powder, Clinique lash power mascara, Sisley eyebrow pencil, powderazzi blusher trio by Benefit and several Urban Decay pallettes for eyes.
If you had to recommend investing in one look what would it be?
Mineral powders are underrated. They can be used to even skin tone, cover blemishes, contour and define. You can go overboard by using too much, but my advice is to apply lightly and make sure you tap excess powder off. This will help to achieve the fresh faced look, and achieve youthful and glowing looking skin.
What is your desert island product?
That's a tough question... For good skin care you need to use a good SPF moisturiser in your make-up. However, it’s a toss up between mascara and mineral powder - I just can't choose!
Which looks are you championing this spring/summer?
I’ve always love a smokey eye, it's timeless. Try working the S/S colours on the eyes with a matt nude lip for daytime. It's a versatile, fresh and youthful look.
An evening look can be made more intense by ramping up the eyes and lips in a darker colour.
We’ve just celebrated London Fashion week, in the past what has been your favourite catwalk look?
One of the trends this year was a very dark eye with full red glossy lips. Very intense and dramatic on a catwalk. London Fashion Week isn't just about the clothes anymore, it's the entire look.
The opposite of that also works well, blending eye and cheek colour in a bright tone, it inspires a more playful, futuristic look.
Finally, what other projects do you have in the future?
I've started filming a new TV show which will be aired on SKY in May/June, and I’m working on two major catwalk shows overseas.
I am also opening a make-up artistry academy for the new generation of professionals with my business partner. There’s a lot to learn both artistically and commercially in becoming a make-up artist which will be incorporated in the courses.
If that isn't enough, I'm aiming for a mainstream festival and a film towards the end of the year. Phew!

Affordable Art Fair, Battersea Park, March 2011
Last weekend I went with the boyf to the Affordable Art Fair in Battersea Park.
It was my second time visiting the fair, and I wanted to enjoy it as much as I had the time previously, but unfortunately I found it a disappointment.
The fair just felt very disjointed this time, with the various artistic genres juxtaposed, and the quality letting it down.
Next time it would be great to see the genres grouped into sections, making it a customer-friendly experience, and also a higher standard of art.
I assume that the stands are filled by whichever gallery offers their money but there really ought to be a panel that judges each application on its own merit.
It’s a shame as I think that art can often be very exclusive so events like this really open it up to the wider audience.
Fingers crossed for next time!

WAH! Nails Leopard Print
This weekend I dropped in on WAH! Nails on the Kingsland Road for a birthday nail art treat.
I love WAH! Nails and their daring designs, and they created a striped leopard print effect for me which I love!
Ps. Please excuse the claw like photo...
