The amount of hype and hysteria surrounding the Sex and the City 2 film, which was released yesterday, is overwhelming. Not only is everyone organising girlie dates to watch the film with cocktails in hand whilst being pedicured, manicured and exfoliated at the same time (slight exaggeration), but the advertising has gone mad too; every billboard, magazine, newspaper and website I come across seems to feature the New York quartet.
Now, perhaps this is a contentious issue and I will receive hate mail for months to come but...am I the only woman not to be excited in the slightest about Sex and the City 2? Now, don’t assume that I have a huge dislike of Sex and the City and everything it stands for, I don’t, it’s just that I’m not that interested in the ongoing saga of the will-they, won’t-they, love affairs of Carrie Bradshaw and the neurotic tendencies and shrill tones of Miranda. I also think that the Sex and the City content has been done to death and stringing it out to a second film is too much. However saying that, count me in on the pre-film cocktails, I’ll just slide away before the curtains open.
