The Master and Margarita, Folio Society

Master and Margarita, Folio Society

Every time I move area in London (which seems to happen quite frequently) I join a new book group as a chance to share my interest in literature and read books that I wouldn't have necessarily have read otherwise. Last month, the book of choice was Bulgakov's 'The Master and Margarita', which is based on the premise of a visit from the devil to a devoutly atheist Soviet Russia. The novel hits back at the bureaucratic nature of Soviet Russia and was only published long afterwards in 1973. The novel is both surreal and psychedelic and well worth a read, the beautiful Folio Society edition is now firmly on my Christmas Wish List.

When Hentsch Man Met With Geek Chic

This week saw the launch of Hentsch Man's debut book on style entitled 'The Chic Geek's Fashion, Grooming and Style Guide for Men'.

The party was held at its store on Newburgh Street which had an impressive turnout. As I turned up, people were spilling out on to the cobbled streets drinking bottles of Peroni. There was a great atmosphere.

Understandably, the party was full of stylish men (and a handful of women) including my friend Bobby (left) and Darren (artist/photographer/designer). We couldn't help but notice Darren's briefcase as we walked in which is so classically beautiful! Apparently, a businessman gave it to him after Darren did some temporary work with him. Note to self: must remember to compliment people carrying beautiful handbags more often...
