Fashion and the Digital Revolution

Digital technology and fashion is a relationship that is going from strength-to-strength in recent seasons. There’s no doubting that the digital revolution is in full swing. As a social media advisor in my professional life and a fashion blogger inmy personal, it is a collaboration that I wholeheartedly support and actively follow.

Burberry, being the digital innovators of the international fashion world, have revolutionised the field. Burberry have continued to impress in just about every digital channel; from acquiring approximately 8.5 million fans on Facebook to the live streaming of last year’s London Fashion Week spring/summer 2011 catwalk show on to Piccadilly Circus.

However, the campaign that captured the world’s attention was the psychedelic catwalk show featuring hologram models, to celebrate the launch of its Beijing flagship store. The show featured six hologram models, including Edie Campbell, walking through one another, bursting into snowflakes and multiplying along the catwalk. It was a visual masterpiece!

The trend has also filtered on to the high street with the Bullring showcasing ‘The Show: redefinition’ as part of Style Birmingham Live from Friday 23 – Sunday 25 September. The Bullring will set the stage for yet another digital technology and fashion collaboration. This will involve real-life models walking the catwalk against a holographic backdrop.

The Show: Redefinition; has taken inspiration from the autumn/winter 2011 key trends, including gothic and 40s Hollywood. What makes this fashion show even more accessible is that you can buy all of the affordable looks from the shops within the Bullring. It is great to see a catwalk show that is available to the general public. Let the revolution continue!

LFW Launch: Toni & Guy Catwalk Show

London Fashion Week launched the spring/summer 2012 campaign with a Toni & Guy ‘Hair Meets Wardrobe’ catwalk show at Somerset House on Thursday night.

The catwalk show was introduced by Naomi Campbell (I still can’t believe she’s 41!) and featured four signature looks: casual, glamour, creative and classic. Each signature look was personified with striking hair, make-up and outfits worn by the models.

I had no idea what to expect of this catwalk show. What would the theme be? What would the format be? Would fashion play a role? However, Toni & Guy seemed to really understand the correlation and importance between hair and fashion (despite a couple of debateable outfit choices on the catwalk, namely a pink-swimsuit with one-legged fringe trousers). It even inspired me to go and try a few of the looks at home.

The fash-pack party then continued at the Royal Hospital Club in Covent Garden, which involved expresso martinis, mini ice-creams and a whole lot of dancing. Let London Fashion Week commence!

Arizona Muse and Freja Beha Erichsen

This is such a stunning photo of Arizona Muse and Freja Beha Erichsen
taken yesterday at Terry Richardson's studio.
I love it's natural simplicity.
Beautiful!

Australian Vogue, Sophie Monk

I've just stumbled upon this copy of Australian Vogue featuring model Sophie Monk.
I was blown away by the strong image, and it has swiftly become one of my favourite covers of all time - bold statement, I know!
I love the combination of the neon pink lipstick (so on-trend right now, don't ya know?), sharp bob, fake eyelashes and the seductive pose.
Only one complaint, why didn't she choose diet Coke!? The fashionable choice.

Wow! I recently came across these old shots of
Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, aren't they great!?
Both Kate and Naomi look so young, fresh and at ease.
Enjoy.

Model of the Moment: Lindsay Wixen

The model on everybody's lips at the moment is 16-year-old Southern Belle Lindsay Wixen. This Kansas girl has already graced the covers of Italian Vogue, Teen Vogue, i-D, Pop Magazine and Love Magazine to name but a few, and has walked for such fashion heavyweights as Chanel, Prada, Louis Vuitton and YSL, making Wixen a face to watch!

Off-Duty Model - Abbey Lee

I love the off-duty model look, it's so effortlessly chic and unpolished.
This image recently caught my eye, it's of the beautiful Abbey Lee and she looks a-may-zing! Love the long skirt, metallic jacket and sweeping fringe.
The guy behind certainly likes her look.
